Professor John Evans has been appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Engagement at Swinburne University.

Academic and Professional Leadership

Professor John Evans has been appointed as Swinburne University of Technology’s inaugural Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Engagement (PVC IE).  In this role he will be responsible for leading, guiding and governing the strategic direction of Swinburne in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander initiatives and strategies, including responsibility for the Moondani Toombadool Centre.

Background and Research

John joins Swinburne from UTS where he was Professor of Indigenous Health Education in the School of Public Health. John has extensive academic and industry experience in Indigenous sport, physical activity and education. He is an ARC Indigenous Research Fellow and holds a number of ARC competitive research grants.
