Background and Academic Leadership
Professor Emma Redding has been appointed as Director of the Victorian College of the Arts. Originally trained as a dancer, Professor Redding has been Head of Dance Science at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, the UK’s only conservatoire of music and contemporary dance, since 2005.
She wrote the first Master’s degree in Dance Science and has since played a key role in developing dance science as a recognised field of study through her research and teaching internationally. She is a founding partner of the National Institute for Dance Medicine and Science and member of the Board of Directors and Past President of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science.
