About MCEC
Since opening in 1996, the MCEC has grown to be the principal convention and exhibition venue in Australia. Prior to the impact of COVID, the MCEC hosted some 1500 events a year, and contributed over $1b in annual economic impact to the state of Victoria.
Background and Professional Leadership
Melissa Sweetland commenced with MCEC in July 2021 as Chief Commercial Officer reporting to CEO, Peter King. A broadly experienced executive who has led transformation, new product development and driven revenue growth, she qualified as a Chartered Accountant at PwC Melbourne. She spent 16 years in financial services between GE Money and Hume Bank, followed by 2 years as CEO of the Riverina Dairy. Most recently she was Deputy Vice Chancellor Engagement at RMIT.
