About the Australian Ballet School
Established in 1964, the Australian Ballet School provides highly specialised training in ballet and allied theatre arts to selected students aged 9 to 19 years and aims to produce graduates capable of integrating into The Australian Ballet and professional dance companies in Australia and overseas.
Background and Professional Leadership
Kirsty Ritchie joined ABS in August 2021 as Executive Director reporting to the Board. An arts administrator with senior management and organisational development experience over 30 years, Kirsty was most recently at Arts Centre Melbourne responsible for the Arts Wellbeing Collective initiative covering performing arts nationally. She has an honours degree in vocational education from Melbourne University and trained at the ABS under Dame Maggie Scott.
