Janet Clarke Hall is a leading academic residential College, of and within, the University of Melbourne. Founded in 1886 as part of the first established college of the University, the College provides an independent, co-educational experience with a distinctive culture focussed on the personal and intellectual formation of students. Dr Eleanor Spencer-Regan has been appointed the next Principal of JCH and will commence in 2022.

Academic and Professional Leadership

Dr Spencer-Regan is currently Vice-Principal and Senior Tutor of St Chad’s College at the University of Durham in the UK. She has served Durham University in various roles over the last seventeen years. Holding a doctorate from Durham in twentieth-century poetry, Dr Spencer-Regan has won recognition for her research, teaching and publications, and was awarded the Frank Knox Memorial Fellowship which took her to Harvard University in 2011.
