About Respect Initiatives
Working under the direction of the Respect at Melbourne Committee, the newly created position of Associate Director, Respect Initiatives leads the implementation of the University’s initiatives to respond to and prevent sexual harassment and assault, university wide.
Background and Leadership
With over fifteen years within academic, government and not-for-profit organisations, Amanda Benson has direct experience of leading diversity, inclusion and gender equity initiatives. She holds a Masters of Social Change and Development from the University of Newcastle and her most recent role with the Burnet Institute was as Diversity, Inclusion and Safeguarding Manager. Amanda has also worked with Red Cross Australia and the Nossal Institute for Global Health, managing health, equity and inclusion programs throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
